But it was way too long —- I understand that a “sunset tour” on June 17 will be late —- and I understand that the monastery closed at 5:00, so there’s not really any way around it. The stop at the Byzantine church in town was much much too long. I guess the ad should have been clearer about how long the tour actually was. We didn’t get back until 9:30. By then I didn’t care about Meteora at all anymore.”

“Vasilis was nice and interesting guide, good bikes (electric assitance makes it way easier on slopes), good stops for photos and explanations, cycling is the best way to go around in Meteora if you only have limited time there, felt very safe. No need to bring fresh water (nor snacks), it is provided and brought from a cooler by the guide. A bit expensive for students like us yet worth it once during our trip ! I would have prefered to visit 3 monasteries but the 2 included are well-chosen (Varlaam and St Stephanos). We were 5 in the group to visit.Read more”
